Bartow County Release Records
A release from the Bartow County Detention Center means one local jail booking has ended. It does not always mean all custody, court duties, or supervision ended. A person may leave on bond while the charge continues, finish a county sentence, receive a court-ordered release, move to another agency, or enter state custody. The correct record depends on what happened next.
The public Bartow County Inmate Inquiry is more than a current roster. Leave In Custody unchecked and it can return prior bookings. A released detail may show an actual Release Date, no current housing facility, bond information, charge disposition, and court data. Someone still held normally shows In Custody as Yes and BARTOW COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE JAIL as the housing facility.
| Release path | Meaning | Next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | Local custody ends while the case continues. | Jail detail and court case |
| Time served | The ordered county confinement is complete. | Jail release and sentence record |
| Court order | A judge directs release under stated terms. | Court order and jail Release Date |
| GDC transfer | County custody ends, but state custody begins. | GDC offender record after intake |
| Parole or probation | The person is in the community under supervision. | Parolee search, court record, and DCS |
| Federal or ICE transfer | Another sovereign agency assumes custody. | BOP, ICE, federal court, or agency contact |
- Release
- The end of a specific custody stay.
- Discharge
- Completion of custody or supervision, depending on the agency.
- Parole
- Community supervision after release from a prison sentence.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision that may occur without prison.
- Detainer
- A hold or request that can keep a person in another agency's custody.
Bartow County Release Record Fields
The booking detail is the county's practical release record. It is not titled a discharge certificate, yet it contains the field that proves the jail stay ended. Match the record to the right person and the right booking before drawing a conclusion. Multiple Bookings warns that more than one jail episode may exist under the same subject.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and physical identifiers | Help distinguish people with similar names. |
| Subject Number | The local person identifier. |
| Booking Number | The distinct jail booking being reviewed. |
| Booking Date | When that stay began. |
| Release Date | The actual end of that county booking. |
| Scheduled Release Date | A planned date, not proof of release. |
| Prisoner Type | May distinguish pretrial from other custody. |
| Housing Facility | Shows present jail housing when held and may be blank after release. |
| Bond data | Type, amount, status, and related bond details. |
| Charge disposition | Can show BONDED or another charge-level outcome. |
| Court and sentence data | Adds court, date, sentence, offense, and case context. |
A Release Date proves the person left that jail booking. It does not prove dismissal. A BONDED charge disposition supports a bond-out but shows the case moved forward outside jail. Scheduled Release Date is different from actual Release Date and may change. The court record, not the jail record, supplies the later legal outcome.
Request Bartow County Release Records
Use the Sheriff's NextRequest portal when the public detail is absent, old, unclear, or an official copy is needed. Bartow County routes Sheriff, jail, and E-911 records there. The legacy Sheriff's records page specifically lists inmate files, visitation logs or recordings, and inmate phone logs or recordings as request topics.
- Identify the person by full name and add the subject or booking number if known.
- State the approximate booking and release dates.
- Ask for the public booking, inmate, or jail release record and name the fields needed.
- Submit through NextRequest, or use the published Records Division email, fax, or mailing channel.
- Review the agency response for fees, redactions, timing, or a request for clarification.
- Request court records from the Clerk instead of the county or Sheriff portal.

Georgia law generally calls for production within a reasonable time not exceeding three business days when records are available. If they are not ready, the agency must give the response and timing information required by law. The agency need not create a new summary that does not exist, so request an existing inmate file or release record rather than demanding a custom 72-hour list.
Bartow County Release Record Law
The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 et seq., governs access to many agency records. O.C.G.A. 50-18-71 addresses response timing, copies, and labor costs. O.C.G.A. 50-18-72 contains exemptions. Pending investigations, juvenile information, medical material, security information, and other protected content can be withheld or redacted even when part of a booking record remains public.
Online visibility is not the same as legal retention. The research found no fixed public retention period for Bartow's inquiry. A missing result can reflect spelling, the selected custody filter, an older record, a portal limit, or a lawful restriction. It is not proof that no arrest or release occurred. Request the originating record when the public interface cannot resolve the question.
How Bartow County Bond Release Works
The Sheriff's Bonding Options page lists cash bond, professional bondsman, personal property bond, and out-of-county property bond for the Adult Detention Center. It calls the person being released the principal. A bond release permits the person to leave local custody under court terms while the case continues.
A public detail can connect the event through a posted bond status, bond type and amount, a BONDED charge disposition, disposition date, and actual Release Date. Read all of them. A bond status alone does not show the time the jail completed release, and a jail release does not decide guilt or the final charge result. Follow the case through Bartow court records.
Bartow County Release Turnover
The Sheriff's Jail Division says the Detention Center processes more than 7,000 inmates each year. That flow explains why a live roster is only a momentary view. Many people who passed through a Bartow booking are no longer housed there, while new bookings replace them in current results.
These are Jail Division operating figures, not the current population and not annual release counts. They support a broader search beyond the “currently jailed only” view. Avoid using a volatile roster result count as a lasting county statistic.
Bartow County Release Fees
Release costs and record costs are separate. The Sheriff's bond page states that cash bond requires a $20 state-required nonrefundable fee in exact cash. It also says a professional bonding company may charge up to 15 percent. Those charges relate to securing release, not buying a release record.
| Item | Published amount or rule |
|---|---|
| Cash-bond fee | $20, exact cash, nonrefundable |
| Professional bond fee | Up to 15 percent |
| Paper records copies | 10 cents per page where the county or GDC schedule applies |
| Search, compilation, or redaction | May include staff time under the applicable records rules |
| External media | Actual applicable cost may be charged |
A records office may estimate costs before fulfilling a broad request. Narrowing the request to a named person, booking number, and release fields can reduce search work. Fees do not change the three-business-day response framework, and that framework does not guarantee immediate production in every case.
Restricted Bartow County Release Records
Georgia record restriction can hide qualifying criminal-history material from public access after the required process. The GBI record-restriction explanation ties the process to O.C.G.A. 35-3-37 and notes the role of prosecutor approval. Georgia.gov explains that a restricted record is hidden from broad public view but is not destroyed for every purpose.
That difference matters when a prior Bartow booking or court result cannot be found. A record may be restricted, the portal may not expose it, or an exemption may protect part of it. Juvenile, sealed, medical, pending-investigation, and security-sensitive material also has special limits. Do not infer that a person was never booked or released merely because a public name search is blank.
Find Bartow County Released Inmates
Begin by identifying the last custody system. The Bartow County jail inquiry is first for a local arrest or county sentence. GDC is first after state-prison intake. BOP serves sentenced federal custody, and ICE's locator addresses current immigration custody. Court and supervision records answer different questions.
- Search Bartow Inmate Inquiry by name and leave In Custody unchecked.
- Use subject number, booking number, or booking dates to separate similar records.
- Open the detail and confirm actual Release Date, housing, bond, and disposition.
- If transferred to GDC, search state records after intake and read status and release fields.
- Check parole, felony probation, or VINE when supervision or custody notice matters.
- Use the Clerk's court search for the charge outcome.
- Use BOP, ICE, federal court, or agency contact for federal and immigration custody.
- Request the official record when no public tool gives a firm answer.
Bartow does not publish a verified standalone recent-release feed. The Bartow 24-hour release method uses booking windows and individual details rather than an invented list. A released person may still be found because prior bookings remain in the inquiry when the custody filter is clear.
Georgia Search for Bartow Releases
Use GDC Find an Offender for a Bartow defendant transferred to state prison or later released from state custody. Do not use it as the first source for a county bond-out. GDC supports searches by name and description, GDC ID, or case number, with active, inactive, or broader record scope.
| Search field | Use |
|---|---|
| Last and first name | Starts a person search when no state number is known. |
| GDC ID | Targets the state corrections identity. |
| Case number | Connects the state record to a known case. |
| Active, inactive, or all | Inactive or all is needed for many released records. |
| Physical descriptors | Help distinguish similar names. |
A released state record may show CURRENT STATUS: INACTIVE, ACTUAL RELEASE DATE, MAX POSSIBLE RELEASE DATE, MOST RECENT INSTITUTION, incarceration beginning and end, sentence, conviction county, offense, and case number. An inactive state record does not prove supervision ended. Check the Parolee Search and DCS when parole or felony probation may continue.
The manifest's GDC offender-search capture shows the official entry point.

The state form belongs to the prison path. Bartow county-jail releases remain with the Sheriff inquiry and records office.
Bartow Release Dates and Court Outcomes
Bartow separates jail records from court records. The county open-records page says court records do not go through the county portal. The Clerk of Superior Court Civil and Criminal Division provides case-management search, calendars, PeachCourt access, and routing for certified copies.
The jail Release Date answers when that local custody stay ended. The court docket answers what happened to the charge. Search by case number, party name, or associated party name after account setup. Pending and closed records may be viewed, and printed or certified copies follow the Clerk's channels. A BONDED jail disposition is not a dismissal.
This split also explains why one portal can look incomplete. NextRequest serves Sheriff and jail records. The Clerk serves court records. GDC serves state incarceration. Use each for the fact it creates rather than treating one result as the entire case history.
Bartow Release Supervision Office
A person released on parole or felony probation may be supervised by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision Cartersville Field Office. It serves Bartow, Gordon, and Cherokee Circuit from 15 Postelle Street, Suite 101, Cartersville. Published hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the office phone is 770-387-3780.
Verify the status before assuming supervision. The State Board's Parolee Search can show parole beginning and end dates, parole office, office number, and primary offense. The court record establishes probation. DCS provides the local office and reentry path. Its THOR and Reentry Partnership Housing resources route requests through DCS, GDC, or Accountability Court staff for eligible supervisees.
Inside Bartow County Release Operations
The Bartow County Detention Center at 104 Zena Drive operates around the clock. The Sheriff's Jail Division describes an approximately 300,000-square-foot facility with medical staff present 24 hours a day. It also reports quarterly Bartow County Grand Jury inspections and annual inspections by the U.S. Marshals Office and Georgia Fire Marshal.
Those facts explain the local record source. Inmate Records, Warrant Division Records, work release and work detail, medical care, meals, and other functions operate within the jail system. A person released from this facility may still have a prior booking detail online. Another person leaving the building under transfer may remain confined elsewhere.
Bartow Release Alerts and Federal Custody
Georgia VINE provides custody-status search and release or transfer notifications online and by other available methods. It is a notice tool, not the final release record. Reconcile an alert with Bartow's actual Release Date or GDC's Actual Release Date. Georgia VINE does not replace federal sources.
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward. BOP explains that a past release date with no listed facility means the person is no longer in BOP custody. ICE's Online Detainee Locator concerns current ICE custody or CBP custody beyond 48 hours and is not a full release archive. U.S. Marshals pretrial or transport status may require court or agency contact.
Bartow Released or Still Held
Use the system that owns the custody record. A name disappearing from one roster does not prove release to the community.
| Status | Where to look | Proof point |
|---|---|---|
| Still in county jail | Bartow current-custody results | In Custody = Yes and jail housing |
| Released from county jail | Bartow booking detail | Actual Release Date |
| Transferred to state prison | GDC | Active state status and institution |
| Released from state prison | GDC or official record | Inactive status and Actual Release Date |
| On parole | Parolee Search and DCS | Parole dates and office |
| Released from federal prison | BOP | Past release date and no facility |
| Current ICE custody | ICE locator | Current locator result |
Bartow County Release Facilities
Four pages represent the distinct facility and agency paths identified in the Bartow research. The first two names refer to the same local jail operation in county materials. The state and federal pages cover external systems that may take custody after a Bartow case.
- Bartow County Detention Center, the primary county jail and local Release Date source.
- Bartow County Adult Detention Center / Sheriff's Office Jail, the alternate operational naming used for the same local facility.
- Georgia Department of Corrections facilities serving Bartow sentences, for transfer, state custody, and state release.
- Federal custody systems serving Bartow cases, for BOP, USMS, and ICE paths.
